Advent Calendars 2016

Hi everyone!

It may be early but I'm already feeling festive, so I thought I'd do a round up of the non-traditional advent calendars that are available to buy this year! I am definitely going to be purchasing one (or many) of these, along with a good old chocolate advent calendar! 🍫🎅

First up, there's the Kiss Cosmetic advent calendar available from Wilko. This advent calendar contains 24 simple makeup and nail products, such as toe separators, blusher, nail varnish, lip gloss, eyeshadow, mascara, and more. It's great for someone on a budget as it's only £5! Although, all of the products are available to see on the website, so maybe opt for a different calendar if you're wanting to be surprised each December morning.

Next is the Dirty Works advent calendar, which was released in Sainsbury's stores nationwide on the 2nd of November. This calendar contains 24 products from Dirty Works, including bath fizzers, lip balm, body scrub and shimmer powder. It's a great price at just £15, and it has a wide variety of bath, hair and makeup products. This advent calendar would be perfect for yourself or as a pre-Christmas gift for someone else.

Accessorize are selling a jewellery advent calendar for £15. It includes one necklace and one bracelet and 22 charms for you to mix and match! You can build your own jewellery with this advent calendar however you want to! I personally am available huge fan of Accessorize's products and am excited to see exactly what's in this advent calendar! I like this one because the contents it is a total surprise, unlike most of the other advent calendars featured in this post.

The 2016 Bomb Cosmetics advent calendar contains 24 soaps, creamers, and blasters. It costs £19.99 from their website, and you can also purchase their advent calendar from last year at the same price. Reviews on this advent calendar say that it smells AMAZING! It's a less expensive calendar than the Lush 12 Days of Christmas set, and you get more products - it's a win-win!

For a non-beauty, non-chocolate advent calendar, you might opt for Yankee Candle's advent calendar, which costs £24.99 from their website. It contains both tea light candles and votive candles in a variety of different scents, including four new ones! This is a great, winter gift that will really bring out the magic of Christmas. I am a self-confessed candle lover so I would absolutely love having a new candle, new scent every day.

House of Fraser's own makeup brand, Colour Couture, has released an advent calendar that is available to purchase now! You can buy it exclusively in stores or on their website for £25, but it's currently on sale for £20, so grab it quick! This advent calendar contains lipsticks, lip glosses, nail polishes, a blusher, an eyebrow pencil, and much more beauty products.

If you're a fan of coffee then why not get a coffee advent calendar like this one by Perkulatte? This is available for you to buy from Not On The High Street for £35. Each day, wake up to a different kind of fresh coffee to get you through December. This is a unique advent calendar, and it gives you an opportunity to try new flavours. This means that you may have a new favourite flavour that you'd never have tried before.

Makeup Revolution's advent calendar contains 24 full size products, including six lipsticks, two baked blushers, a highlighter and an eyeshadow palette. You can buy it exclusively from Superdrug for £40 (but it's currently on sale for £25). A unique idea from Cracking Cookies is a fortune cookie advent calendar, which you can buy from Not On The High Street. All of the fortune cookies contain a slip of paper that has a personalised message, which makes this advent calendar a great present! The other side of the paper can either be a Christmas message or a traditional fortune. It costs £44.99 to buy, but it's really a priceless gift! Each fortune cookie will be one of six flavours: vanilla bean, cinnamon, chocolate orange, gingerbread, apple pie, and cocoa bean, vanilla & sea salt. What's not to love?!

Online retailer Asos have released a beauty advent calendar that features some of the best brands from their beauty section. This calendar can be bought directly from Asos for £50, which is great value for money considering it is worth £175! It contains brands such as Batiste, Yes To, Philosophy, Nip+Fab, Dermalogica, and Elemis. Another great thing about this calendar is that the box is reusable, so you can use it to store your amazing beauty products after Christmas!

Ciaté London’s Mini Mani Month is the ultimate nail varnish advent calendar, containing four brand new and exclusive shades, as well as a special limited edition surprise and a sneak peek at a new nail care product! This advent calendar is available from their website for £50. The Mini Mani Month is a perfect gift for anyone who loves nail polish and nail care!

Johnny Loves Rosie has released a gorgeous jewellery advent calendar this year. It costs £55 and can be bought from their website. It is exactly what you'd expect, an advent calendar filled with timeless pieces of jewellery from Johnny Loves Rosie. It includes necklaces, rings, bracelets, charms and earrings. This would be a great gift to someone you love, or a great advent calendar to enjoy for yourself!

NYX's Wanderlust advent calendar for 2016 contains limited edition products, including 12 new eyeshadows. It also contains 12 mini versions of their Soft Matte Lip Cream, and all products are in a variety of different colours so you'll have plenty of choice! I love the packaging of this advent calendar as it is designed to look like a professional MUA box. I am hoping to get one of these NYX advent calendars as I am a huge fan of the brand! It costs £60 from Boots, Selfridges, and Very, although it has already sold out in some places so you'd better be quick!

This year, The Body Shop have released three beauty advent calendars, we're spoilt for choice! There's 24 Happy Days (£60, worth £106), 24 Happy Days Deluxe (£80, worth £127.50), and 24 Happy Days Ultimate (£99, worth £187). All three advent calendars contain classic products from The Body Shop and can be purchased in stores or online

The You beauty advent calendar 2016 is £69.95 from their website. This advent calendar contains full size products from brands such as: The White Company, Sanctuary, Carmex, Rodial, MUA, Malin+Goetz, and many more. If you're a fan of their subscription boxes, you will adore this advent calendar!

The 'Beauty Secret' advent calendar from Lookfantastic is £70 from their website. The contents of it are unknown at the moment, however last year's advent calendar was apparently amazing! This calendar will contain products from many different brands, so that you can have a chance to try out new products. It is great value for money because the contents are worth over £300!

For the person who has everything, give them socks. Or a sock advent calendar from Sock Shop. They sell five different sock advent calendars, available for £79.99 from their website. You can have a unisex sock advent calendar, this colour burst one, or an advent calendar containing socks with characters on. Each advent calendar contains 24 pairs of quality socks, so you'll stay warm throughout December!

L'Oréal have created a beauty advent calendar, called Eclectic Little Luxuries, with some of their best brands. This advent calendar contains luxury brands such as: Yves Saint Laurent, Lancôme, Viktor & Rolf, Kiehl's and Urban Decay. It costs £95 and is sold exclusively at Selfridges

For anyone who is an avid tea fan, I'd recommend Fortnum's Wooden Tea Advent Calendar. Behind each of the 24 gorgeous doors, there is a selection of rare teas from India, the Far East and Kenya. It is available for a bank-breaking £125 from Fortnum and Mason. But it's totally worth it if you love tasting new teas..!

Every year, Liberty never fails to release an amazing beauty calendar. Unfortunately, a lot of people would agree which is why it has sold out :(. But there are still opportunists selling theirs online, so maybe you'll be able to get your hands on it! It was £149 and could be bought from Liberty

Finally, the biggest, most expensive advent calendar I could find this year. The Jo Malone 2016 advent calendar, filled with 24 surprises. You'll have to be a real, hardcore Jo Malone fan to buy this though, due to a hefty price tag of £280! It can be purchased from the Jo Malone website, although you'd better be quick if you are going to as it may sell out fast!

So that's my roundup of some of the advent calendars available to buy this year! I will be updating this page so keep coming back to see new calendars, price reductions, and more. I hope you've enjoyed reading this, and that you now know if you're going to be buying any of these advent calendars! Let me know in the comments if you've purchased any one of these, or want to.
